Varenna is on Como Lake and from the slopes that encircled it come the olives for the extra virgin olive-oil. It is milled in Lenno, in Europe’s taller oil mill, this oil has the smaller contents of acidity and a light artichoke taste that makes it excellent for vegetables and fish.

From Valtellina come to our tables the simple things, because its tradition answer the primary need of producing in order to feed.

For instance we have different kinds of flours as the buckwheat meal or the maize meal. With the first one we make the PIZZOCCHERI, a black pasta dressed with potatoes, cabbage, cheese and garlic and sage browned in butter.


While the maize meal mixed to the buckwheat one we make the hot or cold POLENTA.

In the past the polenta replaced bread, now it is enriched with cheese and butter or with the "salsiccetta" (thin sausage).

Always from the Valtellina come the porcini mushrooms, both dry and preserved with oil and the various kinds of honey: the esteemed high mountain MILLEFIORI (many different flowers), the acacia, the lime.

And above all we have the famous wines.
